Members of the public are asked to be aware of the likelihood of blue lights and emergency vehicle activity around North Haven Care Centre in Brae during a fire drill tomorrow evening (Tuesday 17th).

The planned training exercise will take place from around 7pm and is being carried out in partnership with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.   Alarms will sound in the building and fire appliances and fire crews will attend.

Council staff will work alongside emergency services personnel to respond to the simulated incident.  Residents will be supported throughout to ensure their safety and wellbeing, but they will not need to leave the building during the exercise.

The exercise will test procedures and familiarise the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service with the building layout and needs of the service, to improve the joint response to any future emergency.

North Haven is a residential care centre which also offers day care provision, and is operated by Shetland Islands Council.
