Anyone interesting in finding out more about ongoing Options Appraisals for Burravoe Primary School and Skeld Primary School is being invited to public drop-in sessions in the next fortnight.
The sessions will provide an opportunity to meet Council officers, view information about the appraisal process, ask questions and share views about the future provision of education within the Burravoe and Skeld areas.
On 19 August 2026, Shetland Islands Council approved the preparation of Options Appraisals for both schools as part of the preliminary requirements set out in the Schools (Consultation) (Scotland) Act 2010. No decisions have been made regarding the future of either school.
The purpose of the current work is to gather information, explore reasonable alternatives and assess the potential educational, community, transport and financial implications of different options.
The Council is keen to hear a wide range of views and local knowledge which will help inform the appraisal process. Members of the public are also encouraged to suggest any reasonable alternatives they feel should be considered.
Drop in sessions will take place as follows –
- Skeld Primary School, Monday 21st September, 6.30pm – 8pm at Skeld Public Hall
- Burravoe Primary School, Monday 28th September, 5pm – 6.30pm at Burravoe School
