Shetland Sports Awards nominees announced

The shortlist of nominees for this year’s Shetland Sports Awards has been announced.  

The 2026 Shetland Sport Awards will take place of Friday 13th November at the Clickimin Centre, and the evening will see Awards presented across eight categories.

The nominees in each category are:

Young Sportsperson of the Year
Ella Johnson (Netball)
Kian Redman (Athletics)
Lauri Siegel (Strongwoman)

Volunteer Coach of the Year
Carrie Morrison, Kevin Main & Niall Bristow (Shetland Women’s Football Team)
Chris Graham (Table Tennis)
Emma Jamieson & Natalie Constable (Junior Netball)

Team of the Year
Burra Rowing Team
Shetland Women’s Football Team
Whalsay FC

Young Team of the Year
Anderson High School S1 Mixed Netball Team
Shetland Junior Table Tennis – Primary School International Team
U18 Junior Netball 

Volunteer of the Year
Adam Peterson (Delting FC)
Alina Murray (Shetland Social Runners)
Rachel Shucksmith (Shetland Canoe Club)

Inclusivity Award
Delting FC – Women and Girls
Shetland Amateur Competitive Swimming Club
Shetland Table Tennis Association 

Lifetime Endeavour Award
Awarded on the evening.

The 2026 Shetland Sports Awards are hosted by Shetland Recreational Trust, supported by partners Shetland Islands Council, Ability Shetland, and national sports agency sportscotland.   

Jack Clubb, Sports Development Officer, Shetland Islands Council said:  “The standard of nominations this year has been extremely high and reflects another successful year for sport in Shetland.   It is always inspiring to see the achievements of our athletes and teams, and it’s equally important to acknowledge the coaches, volunteers, and groups whose dedication helps create a platform for people to succeed through sport and physical activity.  

“We look forward to celebrating all the nominees and their achievements at this year's awards ceremony.”
