Young people sought for North Sea virtual conference

Changing tides and making waves flyer 29102020

Young people aged 16-24 are being invited to take part in a ‘Changing Tides and Making Waves’ virtual conference on Saturday 14th November 2020.

The international event is a collaboration between the North Sea Commission, part of the Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions, and the Northern Alliance, a Regional Improvement Collaborative between eight local authorities in the North of Scotland.

The focus of the online conference will be to strengthen the voice of young people and to create positive change. Planned topics include: Climate Change, Marine Resources, Transport, Young People's Rights, Strengthening Youth Voice, and Education.

The impetus for this event came from a regional Northern Alliance Youth Conference in Inverness in 2019 and from ongoing work by the North Sea Commission to strengthen youth participation in their planning.

To find out more about the ‘Changing Tides and Making Waves’ conference or to register an interest please contact Martin Summers, Senior Youth Development Worker on martin.summers@shetland.gov.uk or via the SIC Youth Services Facebook page.  The deadline for applications is Friday 6th November at 5pm.
