Shetland Islands Council is this morning investigating reports of fuel spillages on roads in Lerwick and also on the A971 Westside road, where there are slippery road surfaces.
It appears that there are various stretches of roads affected between Lerwick and Walls – a distance of around 30 miles.
Roads staff are currently placing signs and spreading sand on the worst affected locations. Drivers are asked to exercise caution along the A971 and on roads in Lerwick, particularly at road junctions and other areas where signs are place.
