At a meeting of Shetland Islands Council today, Councillors approved a five-year corporate plan ‘Our Ambition 2021-26’.
The plan sets out the Council’s priorities for the delivery of services which will impact the medium to long term sustainability of the Shetland community.
Commenting on the plan, Steven Coutts, Council Leader said:
“I am very pleased to see the approval of ‘Our Ambition 2021-26’ today. While this is a Council plan, its focus is very much on Shetland’s overall sustainability as a community. We are living in unpredictable times and as a Council, we have a crucial role in showing strong leadership.
“Delivery in an uncertain world will be challenging, but we must be ambitious. We must not sit back and allow negative change to happen to us. Having identified the barriers and challenges, we must try to address them. We must also embrace the significant opportunities in and around Shetland.
“We must remain positive, confident and create a sustainable future for Shetland. The actions outlined in ‘Our Ambition 2021-26’ set out how we aim to achieve that.”
