Notification of Works and Surveys

Clients and Operators intending to carry out  any work activity that may impact on, or disrupt shipping or port operations within an SIC Harbour Area or its approaches should provide 7 days notice prior to works commencing. 

Examples of works that may impact or disrupt shipping or port operations are listed but not limited to the below;

  • Surveys
  • Inspections
  • Research
  • Any work activity that will include a vessel being Restricted in her Ability to Manoeuvre
  • Any work activities being carried out on, or that will impact access to critical port infrastructure

Notifications

Notification shall be provided to the Duty Harbour Master with a 7 days’ notice prior to works commencing in order for works to be considered and a Notice to Mariners to be published

Failure to give this notification may delay permission being granted for works to commence.

The Harbour Master may consider applications to work with less than 7 days’ notice in exceptional circumstances.

Notification shall include as a minimum;

  • Scope of works
  • Risk Assessments and Method Statements
  • Contact details of responsible persons
  • Contact details of all vessels involved
  • Vessel(s) particulars
  • Any specific hazards and mitigations

Lost Equipment

In any case where equipment becomes fouled or is lost, the harbour authority shall be notified by the quickest available means. This notification shall include as a minimum;

  • Details of the equipment lost or fouled
  • Exact / last known location of the equipment
  • Any Risks to navigation
