In 2022, there were 45 Modern Apprentices (MA) employed across the council, including 22 new starts – with five people in business administration, five in early learning and childcare, seven in social care and five in crafts-related fields.  Ten MAs went on to secure established posts within the council and the rest, bar one, remain in their MA post.

The National Improvement Framework for Scottish Education supports the Scottish Government’s ambition to achieve excellence and equity for every child in Scotland, with a duty placed on local authorities to actively address the poverty-related attainment gap.

Collaborative improvement is an approach to improvement through shared work, involving education staff, learners, parents and carers and relevant local partners, working alongside Education Scotland and the Association of Directors of Education in Scotland (ADES).
