Scheduled monuments
Some monuments in Scotland are protected or “scheduled” because Historic Environment Scotland has recognised them as being nationally important. This is a legal status.
You must get permission from Historic Environment Scotland before doing any work on a scheduled monument. You do this by applying to them for Scheduled Monument Consent.
