Registration week for early learning and childcare runs from Friday 13 February until 6pm on Friday 20 February 2026.
Parents and carers of children born between 1 March 2023 and 29 February 2024, should register for a funded early learning and childcare place during registration week, using the link below.
Early Learning and Childcare Shetland 2026 - 2027 - Three and Four Year Olds
Priority will be given to applications received during registration week.
Every effort will be made to offer you the setting of your choice; however, registration is not a guarantee of a place. We will notify you by 30 April 2026 when a place is confirmed. If your child is not allocated a place at the setting of your choice, you will be contacted and we will discuss with you what options may be available.
Where requests exceed the number of places available, the criteria as detailed in the Shetland Islands Council, Children’s Services Admissions Policy will be applied.
A registration guidance booklet has been prepared to assist with completing the registration form.
