Care Inspectorate inspections

Care inspectorate grades range from 1 Poor  to 6 Excellent

 

The Care Inspectorate made unannounced inspections to two areas in Adult Services (Learning Disability and Autism) in August 2023. The services inspected were Newcraigielea Care Home Service (Short Break and Respite), and Newcraigielea Support Service (Day Care).

Summary of Findings


Newcraigielea Care Home Service (Short Break and Respite)

Key messages

  • People were treated with kindness, dignity and respect.
  • Support was planned and delivered in a person-centred way.
  • Members of staff share responsibility for identifying and carrying out improvements to the service.

From this inspection we evaluated this service as:

  • In evaluating quality, we use a six point scale where 1 is unsatisfactory and 6 is excellent
  • How well do we support people's wellbeing? 5 - Very Good
  • How good is our leadership? 5 - Very Good

Areas for improvement;

  • Ensure the independent advocacy service is able to provide support to everyone who has an entitlement to it. 
  • Develop effective methods of open and transparent dialogue between the provider and families

     

Newcraigielea Support Service (Day Care)

Key messages

  • This is a person-centred service where the person chooses what they do and where they spend their day.
  • Staff know the needs and routines of the person they support.
  • Staff encourage social interaction and participation within the wider community.

From this inspection we evaluated this service as:
