Formal consultation on the infrastructure and public realm works which form part of the Knab Redevelopment project is about to get underway.

Information on that process, as well as the wider project, will be available for public view at Lerwick Town Hall on Wednesday 15th June from 2pm-8pm, and Thursday 16th June from 9am-2pm.

Anyone attending will be able to make comment on the proposals at that event.  A new website is available with more information, and where comments can also be made on the proposals.  The consultation is open until Friday 24th June. The Knab Project team can also be contacted directly by emailing Project.Knab@shetland.gov.uk

Representatives from ARUP, the company leading the overall project design, and from LUC, who are leading the design of the public realm (the design of the open and accessible areas within the site) will be at the Town Hall sessions, along with members of Shetland Islands Council’s project team.

Councillor Dennis Leask Chairs the SIC’s Development Committee:

“This is a tremendous opportunity for the public to drop by and see this project begin to take shape.  It’s important that people have the chance to see what’s planned, and be able to make their views known.  This is a major project, which gives us a unique opportunity to create a thriving, vibrant new community within Lerwick, and I’d encourage anyone who’s interested to take the time to drop along the Town Hall.”
