Roads Notice:  B9071 Laxo to Vidlin

Warning sign

A fuel tanker has come off the road on the B9071 between Laxo and Vidlin and drivers are asked to proceed with caution until the vehicle can be safely recovered.

The tanker is lying at the roadside near the Skelberry junction between Laxo and Vidlin although the single track road remains open to passing traffic.  Road signs are now in place but drivers are asked to keep their speed down and proceed with caution as they pass.

Ferries to and from Whalsay are currently operating to the Vidlin ferry terminal, adding to the traffic volume on this road.

Safe recovery of the tanker will require specialist equipment, which is expected to arrive early next week.
