Household waste collections – Wed 7th January

Essy kert dec 2021

Council staff will attempt collections of household waste and recycling in the coming days, following missed collections during the recent wintry weather.

Attempts will be made tomorrow (Wednesday 7th) to collect non-recyclable waste – black bags – in Lerwick that were unable to be collected last weekend.

Cardboard and paper recycling collections will also be made in Lerwick this week, on the normal days for collection.

From Thursday, attempts will be made to resume normal collections in rural areas, where weather conditions allow and where side roads can be accessed.  Collections for black bags that were missed recently will be rescheduled as soon as possible. More details will be announced soon.

Council staff will make every effort to pick up any missed collections in the coming days as temperatures rise a little and weather conditions gradually improve.

Householders are reminded make sure their bins are placed out for collection by 7.30am.   Householders can also report any missed collections on the Council’s website
