Shetland Community-Led Local Development (CLLD) Programme 2026/27

Project costs and funding levels

Projects seeking grant funding of less than £3,000 will not be considered.

Shetland CLLD can support revenue (eg running costs, wages) and capital costs (eg equipment, building works).  Projects must be fully costed, with evidence of costs such as costs supplied or, for smaller cost items, detailed justification of how these have been devised, eg online price list, internet supplier search etc.

The maximum grant intervention rate is 95%.  Ideally, the LAG is seeking applicants to fund at least 5% of project costs from their own resources and these projects will be prioritised.  The LAG recognises circumstances where that may not be possible, hence match funding may be considered instead.  In exceptional circumstances, if there is a very strong case for doing so, 100% funding may be considered by the LAG.  We need to spread CLLD resources more widely and ensure that a diverse range of projects are supported throughout Shetland.

Projects that include match funding, either confirmed or to be applied for from other external sources, will be considered more favourably by the LAG, as this will enable CLLD to spread its resources more widely and ensure that a diverse range of projects are supported throughout Shetland.

Please note that ‘In Kind’ funding will not be considered.  You can let us know about it in your application, but it will not form part of the funded project costs.

Please also be aware that award of grant is not paid up-front, so applicants need to consider if they have sufficient funds to support the project.  Grants are paid on evidence of expenditure, in the form of receipted invoices and bank statements, showing payments made for agreed project costs and accompanied by a claim form (which will be sent out to all successful projects).  Claims can be made throughout the project duration once the relevant evidence of spend is available (no requirement to wait until project completion to claim the grant).  Successful projects will receive detailed claim guidance on receipt of their signed grant award letter.
