IJB Members Conduct
The Shetland IJB Code of Conduct applies to all members of the Shetland Islands Integration Joint Board, but they may also be subject to another Code of Conduct. This code has been specifically developed using the Model Code and the statutory requirements of the 2000 Act.
Please read our IJB Code of Conduct here: Shetland IJB - Code of Conduct - June 2022
The Ethical Standards in Public Life etc. (Scotland) Act 2000, “the 2000 Act”, provides for Codes of Conduct for local authority Councillors and members of relevant public bodies. The Public Bodies (Joint Working) (Scotland) Act 2014 (Consequential Amendments & Savings) Order 2015 has determined that Integration Joint Boards are “devolved public bodies” for the purposes of the 2000 Act.

IJB Members Induction
All new members of the Shetland Integration Joint Board (IJB) are supported through an induction process, which has been developed to help them understand their role and responsibilities. This includes access to the IJB Induction Handbook and meetings with key staff. The induction process is designed to ensure members feel confident and well informed, and there are further opportunities for development (such as seminars) and support as needed.
The IJB Induction Handbook, provides information on how the Board operates, the roles and responsibilities of its members and officers, and the standards expected of all involved, governance, strategic planning, ethical standards, and the operational framework of integrated health and social care in Shetland. The IJB Induction Handbook is useful whether you are newly appointed or seeking to refresh your understanding.
