Directions
Directions are a set of IJB documents that provide clear descriptions and instructions to NHS Shetland and Shetland Islands Council on how they are to provide health and social care services on behalf of the IJB. The Directions make sure that all the services are provided in a way that follows the Joint Strategic Plan.
The IJB commissions NHS Shetland and Shetland Islands Council to do the work of providing these services. NHS Shetland and Shetland Islands Council are expected to provide these services, stay within budget, and meet specific goals and outcomes.
Here's a list of the services that the IJB gives instructions for:
| Adult Mental Health | Help for adults with mental health problems |
| Adult Services | Support for adults with learning disabilities and autism |
| Adult Social Work | Social work support for adults |
| Alcohol and Other Drugs | Support for alcohol and drug use |
| Allied Health Professionals | Health specialists including Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Podiatry and Orthotics specialists |
| Community Care Resources | Resources for care in the community, such as Care Homes, Care@Home and Meals on Wheels |
| Community Nursing | Nurses who work in the community |
| Justice Social Work | Social work for people involved with the law |
| Health Improvement | Programs to improve people's health |
| Oral Health | Dental care |
| Pharmacy and Prescribing | Medicine and prescriptions |
| Primary Care | General Practitioners (GP), community based Doctors and Health Centres |
| Hospital based services | Some services provided in hospitals such as Sexual Health, Renal Services, Urgent and Unscheduled Care |
| Unpaid carers | Support for people who care for others without pay |
