The Occupational Therapy service

About Occupational Therapy

Community Occupational Therapy can help you remain independent and safe at home.  As Occupational Therapists, we aim to empower and enable you to safely participate in the activities meaningful to your everyday life.

When you send us your referral we will contact you to gather as much information as possible to assist you in a timely manner.  You may be asked to complete a self-assessment of your home environment or participate in an online assessment so your needs can be met in the most efficient manner.

Following an assessment we will provide a variety of interventions.  The intervention required will depend on your specific circumstances and will be agreed in partnership with your Occupational Therapist. They may include:

  • Specialist information and advice about your condition or environment

  • Assistive equipment to help with activities of daily living

  • Adaptations to your home

  • Rehabilitation goals

  • Telecare and support to access technology to increase your independence
