Commerical Recycling
Under the Waste (Scotland) Regulations 2012, all businesses are required to separate out materials for recycling.
The Council operates a collection for recyclables separated into three streams:
- paper, card and cardboard
- plastic bottles, cans and cartons
- glass
We will provide our customers with wheeled bins for recycling, with different coloured lids for separating the different streams.
Customers outside of Lerwick will be collected on the same schedule as households in their respective area.
Customers in Lerwick can receive more regular collections, depending on your needs, you must specify this in your annual Waste Transfer Note.
The charge for collection of recycling is significantly lower than non-recyclable waste, so the more you can separate for recycling the lower your costs.
