Bringing Lerwick Together – A funding opportunity
A Community Council PB Project based in Lerwick to distribute £5,000, undertaken in October 2018. Lerwick Community council worked in partnership with Shetland Islands Council to deliver this project.
The theme of the project was:
To encourage local community organisations and voluntary groups to come up with new and interesting ways to bring the community together.
Applications were invited form local and Shetland wide groups with the following criteria. The project or event planned must take place in Lerwick, or be of benefit to people from Lerwick and that the project or event must addresses the theme; therefore, it must have some connection to bringing people together for some kind of social or sporting activity.
A total of 10 applications were received. The PB event took place at Islesburgh Community centre on Saturday 6th October. Approximately 240 people attended and voted at the marketplace style event. 6 projects were successful in securing full or partial funding with results announced and cheques presented on the day.
