Loot for Lerwick 2

A Community Council PB Project based in Lerwick to distribute £5000, undertaken in November 2017.

The aims of the project were:

• Community Activity
To increase the level of community activity that takes place in the area including social and physical activity. We will look at enhancing all opportunities for social interaction and improved health for the community to improve community cohesion.

• Community Services
To build a strong confident community, which celebrates our diversity and improves support and access to services for the most vulnerable residents.

• Community Communications
To encourage greater communication in our community to make the best of what we have available through keeping everyone informed about the opportunities and activities that make our community strong.

Lerwick Community Council worked in partnership with Shetland Islands Council to deliver this project.

Applications were invited from local and Shetland wide groups through various means and 8 applications were received. The PB event took place at Islesburgh Community centre on Saturday 4th November. Over 260 people came along to cast their votes at the marketplace style event. 6 projects were successful in securing full or partial funding with results announced and cheques presented on the day.
